TECHNOLOGY IS USEFUL. YOUR LIFE IS PERSONAL.

AI and your
California divorce.

AI can help you prepare.
Human support still matters.

AI can help organize thoughts and questions. It can also miss court requirements or invent information. Fast Divorce provides human document preparation at your direction. For legal advice, turn to a licensed attorney.

START WITH WHAT YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND

Better questions.
A clearer next step.

AI can explain unfamiliar words, organize a list and help you prepare questions. Those can be useful first steps. An answer that sounds confident, however, may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. Verify it before you use it in a court document or make a legal decision.

You may be researching costs, trying to understand a term, or wondering what to ask next. Whether you have children, own property or rent your home, this transition deserves care.

Try a plain-language definition, a general organizing list or a fictional example. Keep personal records out of the prompt, and treat suggested categories and links as items to check.

AN ORGANIZING PROMPT FROM THE CHECKLIST

“Help me list questions about California divorce without personal facts. Separate process questions from questions requiring legal advice. Include official source links for me to verify.”

Keep the suggested questions and links for your own review. You do not need to submit personal facts to use this guide.

THE AI ANSWER CHECKLIST

Six checks before
you rely on an answer.

Start with the source. Keep track of what you checked and what still needs an answer.

  1. 01

    Protect privacy

Use fictional examples. Leave out identifying details, financial and children’s information, private messages, confidential records, passwords, private keys and recovery phrases. Read the tool’s actual privacy terms and controls.

  2. 02

    Check the place

Does the answer concern California and, when relevant, the correct county? An explanation for a different place may not fit.

  3. 03

    Open the source

Find the original page and the passage that supports the claim. A citation alone proves neither existence nor accuracy.

  4. 04

    Check currency

Look for current court guidance and applicable dates. Record when you checked.

  5. 05

    Find assumptions

Did the answer assume nothing was filed, everyone agrees, or no financial issues exist? Keep a note of what may be missing.

  6. 06

    Ask the appropriate person

Take questions about your rights, legal choices or signing an agreement to a California attorney.

FROM RESEARCH TO COURT PROCEDURE

An answer and
a completed case
are different things.

A general AI conversation does not itself complete your court case. Applicable paperwork, information exchanges, court procedures and a judgment still matter. Requirements vary with the procedure and circumstances.

Before giving instructions or signing, keep a list of what you understand and what remains unresolved.

DIFFERENT QUESTIONS. DIFFERENT ROLES.

Match the question
to the right help.

You can represent yourself and choose the support you want. Each role has a different scope.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more
clarity.

Short answers for the questions worth keeping.

Can AI do my entire divorce?

AI may assist with preparation. A general conversation does not itself complete required court steps or establish that your marriage has ended. California Courts explains the final paperwork, court review and judgment process; the applicable steps depend on your case. Finalizing a divorce.

What can it help me organize?

Try a general list of questions, a plain-language definition or a fictional example. Keep personal records out of the prompt. Check the resulting sources and assumptions before using the answer.

How do I check an AI citation?

Open the original official source. Confirm that it exists, supports the particular claim, concerns the right place and remains current. If you cannot verify it, keep the claim marked as unresolved.

What should I keep out of a prompt?

Leave out identifying information, account details, children's information, private messages, confidential records, passwords, private keys and recovery phrases. Use a fictional example and review the provider's actual terms and settings. Privacy practices depend on the tool and how it is used.

Can Fast Divorce legally approve an answer AI gave me?

We can explain our services and prepare accepted documents at your specific direction. We cannot validate legal advice, choose a legal strategy or tell you what terms you should accept. Bring legal questions to an attorney; use official court resources for general process information.

How are court self-help, an attorney, a mediator and an LDA different?

Court self-help provides information within its scope. An attorney advises and can represent you. An independent mediator helps with discussions. An LDA prepares documents at your specific direction. The comparison above explains each role's limits; one role does not automatically include the others.

Does using AI pause a deadline?

Research alone does not extend a court deadline. Check your papers and current court instructions. Court self-help can provide process information; an attorney can advise about your deadline and how to respond. California Courts: responding to divorce papers.

Are my Check My Fit answers sent to AI?

Your answers stay on the Check My Fit page, reset when you reload it and are not sent to an AI service. This applies to Check My Fit. For other pages and services, review the applicable privacy terms. Explore Check My Fit.
