Should I call the clerk or the self-help center?
Call the family law clerk for filing, records and court administration questions. The court's self-help center or family law facilitator can explain available help with forms and procedures. These offices have different roles and may have different hours. Self-help staff do not represent you.
Are phone hours the same as counter hours?
Not always. The directory lists them separately when the court publishes both. Building access, drop-box access and clerk service hours can also differ. Check the court's current notices and holiday calendar before you travel.
Can I file papers by email?
Only when the court expressly authorizes email filing for the document you are submitting. An information, self-help or mediation email is not automatically a filing address. Follow the court's current instructions and keep any submission confirmation.
Where can I find California court forms?
Start with the official California Courts forms directory and your court's local forms page. A statewide form may be only part of the paperwork needed. For help understanding available resources, contact court self-help; ask a licensed attorney for advice about your particular legal options.
Can I find every family court record online?
No. Access varies by court, case type and record. Some information is restricted or unavailable through a public portal. Ask the court that holds the case how to request the record and what identification or authorization is required.
What if an email or schedule is missing?
It means that detail was not found or could not be confirmed in the official sources reviewed. It does not mean the court has no email or offers no phone service. Call the listed clerk route or check the official contact page.
